Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the supervisor or designee, incumbents protect and ensure the safety of all property and individuals on Bartlett Regional Hospital premises and patrols hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft and vandalism. Incumbents secure, unlock and protect hospital buildings and also respond to the security needs of hospital staff, patients and visitors.

What You Will Do:

• Supports Bartlett Regional Hospital's strong commitment to the highest standards of business and professional ethics. Provides services in compliance with all Federal and State laws governing the Hospital's operations.
• Provides a visible deterrence to crime and prohibited activities by patrolling the buildings and grounds of the Hospital. Patrols parking areas to detect any suspicious activity, illegally parked vehicles, blocked loading zones and any abandoned vehicles. Monitoring Security Cameras for the same.
• Responds quickly and effectively to emergent situations using established hospital procedures, including emergency codes / alarms.
• Investigates incidents of unusual circumstances reported by Hospital personnel, visitors, physicians or patients and reports all incidents, verbally or through general incident form, by the end of each shift. Writes accurate, clear and legible incident reports and documents any investigatory steps taken and results. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications for the Job:

Security Officer I:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: Six (6) months' relevant experience, preferred in a security function
• Certification(s): Workplace Violence Prevention Training within 90 days. CPI Nonviolent Intervention Training within 90 days.

Security Officer II:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: One (1) year relevant experience or six (6) months as a Security Officer I at BRH. Substitution: Post-secondary education in criminal justice may be substituted for experience requirement on a month-for-month basis.
• Certification(s): Workplace Violence Prevention Training within 90 days. CPI Nonviolent Intervention Training within 90 days. International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety Certification required.

Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.
External Hires: Step placement and rate of pay will be determined based upon relevant experience.

• Security Officer I starts at $22.83 per hour.
• Security Officer II starts at $23.97 per hour.

In lieu of fringe benefits, casual employees will receive a $2.00 per hour differential.
