District Early Learning Facilitator - BSSD District Office - Unalakleet

Bering Strait School District is currently searching for an Itinerant Early Learning Facilitator for the 2025-26 school year. This position involves assisting and training staff in the district's 15 schools, but is based out of the BSSD District Office in Unalakleet. We are beginning to do interviews by video conference and other means.

We are a standards-based and data-driven district, and require progressive, flexible teachers who are supportive of a Response to Intervention (RTI) approach to instruction, and willing to implement related strategies.

Being comfortable using technology to track student progress and to prepare documentation is a significant advantage. BSSD utilizes a comprehensive web database for tracking student progress called PowerSchool; technology is used for most day-to-day tasks. The district has an employee purchase program for computers, and an excellent technology infrastructure. All classrooms are wirelessly connected to the Internet.

JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Early Learning Facilitator - District Office

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Current Type T Alaska Teaching Certificate
  2. At least 2 years of successful teaching experience in a rural Alaskan setting. No less then 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience, 2 years of which must have been in Alaska
  3. Demonstrated experience incorporating State Standards into classroom instruction
  4. Demonstrated experience living and working in a diverse cultural setting
BSSD PROFESSIONAL GOALS:
  1. To provide BSSD students with a quality standards-based instructional program
  2. To provide math training and instructional support to faculty and staff as required
  3. To provide training and support on the early learning program to community members
  4. To promote positive successful learning practices
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Continuous, district-wide (K-12) improvement
  2. Aid in the selection and development of curriculum that aligns with Alaska state standards
  3. Ability to communicate in a positive, constructive manner that is conducive to growth in others
  4. Locate and develop materials needed for individual and group training
  5. Willing and able to teach distance delivery courses as needed
  6. Willing and able to attend necessary training and arrange for training of staff
  7. Travel to all 15 sites to perform observations, troubleshoot district programmatic or instructional implementation, training, and audits
  8. Willingness and ability to travel
  9. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

SALARY: Placement on teacher salary schedule
REPORTS TO: Director of Curriculum & Instruction
LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT: 200 Days
