Overview

GovCIO is actively seeking dedicated Database Administrator(s) to bolster our support for the USPS Network and Compute Technology (NCT) group.

The NCT group plays a crucial role in enhancing the USPS network by implementing effective network segmentation to reduce cybersecurity risks and improve overall performance. They manage local, wireless, and wide-area network connections across over 32,000 USPS facilities, ensuring robust data center, internet, cloud, and business partner networks.

This role will support the sophisticated infrastructure, encompassing over 24,000 servers and 110 petabytes of storage while ensuring all digital networks run securely and efficiently 24/7.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive incident and deployment support across multiple database technologies, including Oracle and SQL Server.
• Oversee incident management through the USPS ServiceNow application, adhering to established Change Management Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Serve as a technical leader for incident response, maintenance, and documentation in a complex, distributed server and database environment.
• Develop and implement robust processes for proactive problem detection and disaster recovery.
• Maintain project plans in compliance with Postal Service standards and keep management informed of critical issues.
• Collaborate with Program Managers, Project Managers, Engineering staff, and vendors to drive successful project outcomes.
• Provide analysis and resolution for complex hardware and software issues, assisting the USPS development community as needed.
• Ensure all operational management processes are documented and followed.
• Utilize monitoring and management tools chosen by USPS Management to maintain system integrity.
• Conduct training and offer support to users and other administrators, while upholding leadership qualities in line with USPS standards.

Shift Work Hours: Candidates must be open to shift work options.

Off Days: Saturdays and Sundays Off

1st shift: 7AM-3:30PM
2nd shift: 3PM-11:30PM
3rd shift: 11PM-7:30AM

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with a robust background of 20+ years in database administration or equivalent experience.

Required Skills and Experience

• Expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex Oracle RDBMS environments.
• Proficient in UNIX and Microsoft Windows operating systems, along with various database technologies, including Postgres, NoSQL, SQL, and Cassandra DB.

Clearance Required: Candidates must be US Citizens or Permanent Residents to obtain and maintain US Postal Service Public Trust.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Previous experience with USPS or an active USPS Public Trust is a plus.
• Familiarity with middleware technologies and cloud platforms, along with tools for automation and monitoring.
• Hands-on experience with a variety of systems and tools, including Apache Tomcat, Docker, Kubernetes, and Microsoft PowerShell.

Posted Salary Range

The salary range for this position is USD $124,540.00 - USD $151,286.99 /Yr.
