Job Description
The Juneau Trial Court of the Alaska Court System is currently accepting applications for Court Case Managers 2 (salary range 12) for children's and delinquency cases, as well as civil cases.
Employees transferring from another State of Alaska agency may receive consideration for an advance step placement.
CINA/DELQ Position

The role involves managing the full lifecycle of court case files, from initiating new cases by accepting petitions, assigning judges or masters, collecting filing fees, and entering case details into the system, to closing cases and updating records accordingly. The position requires issuing summonses, subpoenas, and Guardian ad Litem orders, as well as taking necessary calendaring actions and routing files to appropriate judicial officers. It includes processing and evaluating filed documents, ensuring they are matched to the correct case files, and maintaining the organization and appearance of those files. Additional duties include retrieving files, distributing signed orders and judgments, performing data entry in the case management and motion tracking systems, scanning documents into a barcode system, and preparing certified or exemplified copies. The role also involves generating and distributing monthly statistical reports.

This position involves shared responsibility for processing CINA (Child in Need of Aid) and Delinquency case files, including reviewing and managing court documents such as motions, stipulations, opposition and reply memoranda, judge reassignments, memos to set, and hearing notices. The role requires ensuring all filings comply with statutory and court rule requirements, verifying that necessary supporting documents are included, signatures are present, and affidavits are properly notarized. The employee is responsible for identifying deficiencies in filings and promptly notifying attorneys, agencies, or self-represented litigants, citing the applicable rules or statutes. Additionally, the position includes maintaining and updating the motion tracking system by entering data related to motion type, filing date, judicial assignment, review readiness, and disposition. Daily tasks include generating pull lists, reviewing case files for completeness, and routing them to judicial officers for review or scheduling of oral arguments.
Civil Position

This role is responsible for managing civil cases, which involve: case opening, processing, docketing, distributing orders, tracking motions, and case closure. As a member of the clerk's office, the incumbent will also greet the public, accept filings, provide general information, direction, and court forms to customers, receipt money, accept requests to inspect and copy court documents and files, and provide excellent customer service in accordance with Alaska Court System standards.

The incumbent serves as an in-court clerk throughout the week, as assigned, which includes setting up, organizing, and maintaining the courtroom, as well as operating and testing recording equipment. Announce the opening and closing of court proceedings. Facilitate the timeliness of hearings by gathering parties. Administer oaths to witnesses, jurors, interpreters, and bailiffs. Prepare accurate and complete log notes of court proceedings in accordance with established rules and procedures. Prepare and distribute paperwork resulting from court proceedings. Serve as bailiff during jury trials.
These positions are assigned to the court's classified service; incumbent will attain regular status after completion of the initial probationary period.

The Work Hours
Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for these positions are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.

The Work EnvironmentThe Dimond Courthouse is located on 4th Street near the Historic District in Juneau. As a Court Case Manager 2, you will become part of the Juneau Trial Court helping to fulfill the mission of the Alaska Court System.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of advanced clerical work experience equivalent to a Court Case Manager 1 with the Alaska Court System or an equivalent position with another employer.

OR

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND completion of a two-year paralegal curriculum from an accredited institution.

OR

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college.
