We are looking to fill a Full-Time Recreation Activity Leader II position.
Under general supervision and with detailed guidelines, this position assists in the operation, programming, and administration of the Treadwell Arena.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FORThe Treadwell Arena staff is a small group of dedicated individuals, and we are looking for a team player to join our crew. Ideally, we would like an individual who is interested in providing excellent customer service and assisting with recreational programming at one of Juneau's favorite recreational facilities.
WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION
This position works a varied schedule (Monday through Sunday) 5:30am-midnight at Treadwell Arena in Douglas.
Typical Responsibilities
- Opens and closes the facility as scheduled
- Sharpens ice skates
- Assists with developing, organizing, and implementing recreation programs, and special events
- Assists with training staff and volunteers
- Assists with customer service duties such as answering phones, emails, collecting fees, responding to customer questions/complaints and distributing recreational equipment
- Inputs data and registration and scheduling software systems and generates reports
- Submits daily facility reports, accident/incident reports, equipment condition reports and other reports required
- Assists with facility scheduling, registration, and event bookings
- Enforces facility safety procedures and rules for participants and spectators
- Inspects facility and equipment for cleanliness and safe conditions
- Administers basic first aid and CPR as needed
- Assists with yearly install, removal and maintenance of ice rink surface
- Operates ice resurfacer *
- Performs other related work as required
Minimum QualificationsExperience:Six (6) months of experience organizing and/or implementing recreation activities or an instructional certification.
Licensure/Certification:CPR within 30 days of employment.
Other: Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment (to operate the Ice Resurfacer).
Under Alaska Statute 12.62.160 (9) Appointments to this position are offered conditionally, pending the results of a criminal records report (Non-FBI). Human Resources evaluates the results to ensure the applicant does not have any convictions that result in a direct nexus to the primary duties involving supervising minors.
