Eaglecrest Ski Area - Alaska's Best Kept Secret is Hiring!Eaglecrest is seeking an experienced ski industry professional to join our team as the Director of Mountain Operations who will value teamwork, be willing to be a hands-on manager with a progressive mind set and a can-do attitude.
The CBJ Assembly has requested a standard salary review for Eaglecrest positions.
Final salaries will be confirmed following approval by the Eaglecrest Board and the CBJ Assembly.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Under general supervision of the Ski Area Manager; plans, directs, coordinates the activities of staff in the Snowmaking, Grooming, Lift Maintenance, Vehicle Maintenance, Power Generation and Water Works Divisions of the Eaglecrest Ski Area. The Director of Mountain Operations in collaboration with the General Manager and Senior Staff will assist with planning and execution of Capital Projects and infrastructure improvements. Eaglecrest is embarking on a major expansion into year around summer operations with the installation of a new fixed grip pulsing Gondola. We are looking for someone that is excited to participate in this legacy project and drive the success of this expansion by supporting our contractors and looking for opportunities to recruit and train and mentor new staff to maximize this opportunity. Previous experience with heavy machinery, capital projects, lift maintenance/construction and snowmaking operations are desired.

Juneau is a small community of 30,000 people that is passionate about their outdoor lifestyle especially skiing and snowboarding. Being a smaller community ski area, you will have an opportunity to interface and develop strong relationships with many community members during the winter months.
WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION

You will be working out of the Maintenance Shop at Eaglecrest Ski Area. During the winter season you will typically be working Wednesday through Sunday 7:00am to 4:00pm. Overtime will be mandatory during holiday periods. The summer season will offer more flexibility on scheduling.

Typical Responsibilities
You will be responsible for providing smooth consistent Mountain Operations by ensuring that the equipment is properly maintained, and staffing levels are adequate and proper training programs are in place. At times you will have to plow snow in the parking lot, assist with snowmaking operations, help fix chair lifts, perform light carpentry, run heavy machinery, and work outside in heavy rain. You will be part of the senior administrative team, regularly collaborating to meet our daily, as well as long-term goals by developing creative solutions to problems that arise throughout the operating day. You should be adaptable and able to pivot on a moment's notice due to weather, equipment or staffing challenges. You should enjoy living the rural remote Alaskan lifestyle.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:

Graduation from high school or the equivalent.

Experience:

Six (6) years of construction, engineering experience; or ski industry maintenance/repair experience.

AND

Two (2) years of experience supervising staff (may be concurrent with experience above).

Substitution:

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field may substitute for four (4) years of the required experience. *No substitution for the required supervisory experience.

Licenses/Other:

A valid Driver's license at time of appointment and for continued employment.

Current Small Water Sytems Certification issued by the State of Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation within one year of appointment.

Must be able to work in high places, in adverse weather conditions, long hours, and be able to shovel snow for extended periods of time.
