Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

• Generate and execute CPSR-compliant purchase orders based on approved requisitions, requests for proposals, bids, and other relevant documents related to purchasing commodities or major subcontract items.
• Facilitate and manage supplier issues (cost, quality, delivery, customer service).
• Manage all aspects of supplier relationships, including A/P holds.
• Initiate and follow through on supplier changes (Engineering Change Notices).
• Lead negotiations, applying knowledge of contract law, guidelines, practices, and requirements to secure best terms and minimize risks.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with suppliers, resolving issues related to pricing, quality, timing, claims, and contract disputes.
• Understand demand/spend profiles for commodity areas and provide relevant information.
• Track and report cost savings or avoidances.
• Maintain accurate records and files of vendor agreements and procurement documents.
• Communicate supplier performance, including site visits as needed.
• Serve as the primary contact between DRS personnel and suppliers.
• Support and promote the company's mission, values, and culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field, with at least 5 years of purchasing experience.
• Ability to understand military specifications and read blueprints.
• Knowledge of procurement laws, contracts, and breach remedies.
• Proficiency in price and cost analysis.
