The position is the Southeast Alaska Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) Specialist and is a liaison between OCS and the Southeast Tribes. The incumbent is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with all Alaska Native and American Indian Tribes, Native Organizations, Tribal grantees within the region, and Native community resources. The incumbent is responsible to consult with OCS workers and supervisors on removals and placement changes of Alaska Native children and youth to ensure that the state is complying with Federal ICWA law.
Additional duties include scheduling and facilitating various meetings and case reviews.

Special Note: All positions require valid ID and successful completion of a background investigation, including fingerprinting and a criminal records check. The successful candidate may be required to attend multiple training courses normally located in Anchorage.
Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving, Customer Service, Integrity/Honesty, Interpersonal Skills, Oral Communication, Writing, and Technical Credibility equivalent to those typically gained by Training in a social science, behavioral science, health science, guidance and counseling, or a closely related field and/or progressively responsible professional experience providing assistance, information or referrals to the general public related to social services, health care, or legal services; in child, adult, family, or group case management, licensing, or probation services; or providing care or services to delinquent juveniles.
