Under general supervision of the Patient Access Supervisor, the incumbent performs a wide variety of Patient Access Services (PAS) functions in support of patient care, access, and hospital revenue. Primary duties include:Accurately obtain physician orders, decipher physician orders for correct admission or testing directive. Verify patient demographics, reason for visit, and insurance/financial information by interviewing patients to verify that all information is correct to ensure a clean claim. Direct patients to testing location. Verify benefits, obtains required authorizations for insurance processing if missing, and follows up with patients for additional information required to process and accurately charge for services rendered. Collect payment for services, and any applicable deductibles or co-pays. Open travel insurance claims for the Emergency Department.
