We are seeking a detail-oriented, adaptable, and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Clerk of Court 1. In this dynamic position, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the court by managing case files, assisting with courtroom proceedings, overseeing jury processes, and providing front-line service to the public.
You will be responsible for processing and managing court cases from initiation to closure across a variety of case types, including criminal, civil, domestic violence, stalking, small claims, and traffic. You will prepare and distribute court documents, maintain the daily court calendar, and organize case files for archiving and microfilm retention.
In your jury management role, you will oversee all aspects of petit jury operations-reviewing juror questionnaires, maintaining accurate records, and preparing and mailing jury summons. You will also assist members of the public at the front counter, over the phone, or via email by answering questions and helping with forms. Occasionally, you may be called upon to serve as a courtroom bailiff.
As a courtroom assistant, you will operate and test the CourtSmart recording system, ensure clear and audible recordings, take detailed and legible log notes, and coordinate virtual hearings. Ensuring the courtroom is set up and ready each day is also part of your routine.
Additional responsibilities include coordinating with facilities for building-related concerns, operating and maintaining office equipment, tracking and ordering supplies, and processing incoming and outgoing mail. You will follow established cash handling procedures, issue receipts for various payments (e.g., bail, fines, restitution), prepare deposits, and manage disbursement dockets. The role also includes providing backup support to the Tok court and assisting other locations as needed.
