Job Summary

FedVet Construction is seeking a qualified Construction Superintendent for a federal project located in Sitka, Alaska with the Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery Administration (NCA). The ideal candidate will have strong experience in federal civil construction, a working knowledge of EM 385-1-1, and be proficient with Procore and Microsoft 365. This role requires on-site leadership, coordination with project teams, and full compliance with federal safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and sequence field work in collaboration with the Project Manager, subcontractors, client representatives, and government officials.

Assist with procurement planning and resource allocation with the General Superintendent on a weekly and six-week forecast basis.

Maintain accurate and current as-built drawings throughout the life of the project.

Support the PM and scheduler in updating the Master Construction Schedule weekly.

Lead the weekly update and tracking of the Six-Week Look-Ahead Schedule and maintain the jobsite Lean Board.

Prepare and distribute the Three-Week Look Ahead Schedule in Procore.

Attend and actively participate in all required meetings, including weekly progress and coordination meetings.

Ensure jobsite is clean, organized, and compliant with safety and environmental standards.

Collaborate with architects, engineers, and field personnel to resolve design conflicts, field conditions, and technical issues.

Conduct regular field walks to assess progress, identify potential issues, and proactively develop solutions to maintain project momentum.

Provide field leadership, guidance, and mentorship to subcontractors and labor crews.

Ensure full compliance with the Three Phases of Control (Preparatory, Initial, Follow-Up).

Support overall team success through proactive communication, accountability, and alignment with project goals.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent on federal construction projectspreferably with civil scopes.

Strong understanding of EM 385-1-1 safety standards and OSHA 30 certification.

Proven experience in civil construction, including earthwork, grading, concrete, and utility work.

Proficient in Microsoft 365, Procore, and familiar with USACE RMS or similar platforms.

Knowledge of federal specifications, quality standards, and submittal processes.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple field activities.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience working with government clients such as VA, NCA, NAVFAC, or USACE.

Ability to lead field teams with professionalism and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications

EM 385-1-1 Certificate (Required or must be obtained prior to mobilization)

OSHA 30 Certification (Required)

USACE Quality Control Management (QCM) Certificate

Knowledge of Lean Construction and Pull Planning methodologies
