WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
This position is responsible for performing receptionist duties and providing clerical support for the Alaska State Troopers in Anchor Point. Key responsibilities include interacting with the public, answering phones, handling complex data entry, conducting case research, processing travel arrangements, acting as evidence custodian, and performing other clerical tasks as needed. The role also involves supporting various administrative functions as assigned, ensuring smooth and efficient office operations.

THE WORKING CONDITIONS YOU CAN EXPECT:

This position is located in Anchor Point at the Alaska State Trooper post. The daily work environment consists of one Office Assistant 3 (this position), a Sergeant, several troopers, and Alaska Wildlife Troopers personnel. The successful applicant must be able to work with frequent interruptions, be self-motivated, and be able to work well with others to be successful in this position.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or the equivalent.
AND
One year of experience that includes clerical tasks such as performing reception duties, answering routine questions on services or products, retrieving information from electronic or hard copy files, recording expenditures and receipts, or typing routine correspondence.

Substitution:
Education from an accredited college may substitute for six months of the required experience (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience; 150 hours of vocational education equal one month of experience).

Special Note:
"High school diploma equivalent" means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D.; 2) completion of any basic adult education course equivalent to 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 course hours per week); 3) acceptance in full standing by an accredited college or university; 4) highest grade of school completed plus an amount of paid or volunteer experience that totals 12 years and includes basic clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.

Some positions in this class may require the incumbent to operate motor vehicles. Such positions require that the applicant possess a regular driver's license and be 18 years of age or older.

This position requires the incumbent to submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, and required access to APSIN, an applicant with criminal convictions will not move forward in the selection process.
