What You Will Be Doing
In this position you will travel by plane or personal vehicle to provide relief coverage duties such as in-courting, case processing, jury management, bailiff, customer service, and accounting to local and rural courts. Duties will include preparing courtroom for hearings, posting daily court calendar, recording and preparing an accurate summary of the proceedings, marking and maintaining exhibits, prepare, distribute, and process documents. You will also be responsible for Jury management to include calling roll of prospective jurors and assisting in jury selection.
Other duties may include screening incoming mail, researching and resolving special issues related to case filings, answering inquiries, and preparing and processing filings and orders for signature. This position will assist Clerks of Court and the Rural Court Administrator (RCA) with staff training or provide backup support while staff participates in training sessions.
When working at another court location, you will submit travel claims to the Area Court Administrator (ACA) for approval and assist with training to the extent that staffing permits. When not traveling, you will assist local and/or rural courts remotely with special projects to include technology implementation, training, customer service, lead assistance and sole operational coverage for small courts when vacancies have occurred.
The Work Hours
Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break. MAY WORK EXTENDED HOURS WHEN TRAVELING OR ON ASSIGNMENT.

Minimum Qualifications Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of office clerical experience.
Substitution: Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.
Completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college will substitute for the year of required office clerical experience.
Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical experience on a month-for-month basis.
