Greet and serve food to patrons. Provides excellent customer service.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSProvide excellent customer servicePrepare and serve hot and cold beverages, to include coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, and teaTake accurate orders from customers and relay correct information to appropriate staffClean and sanitize work area, utensils espresso machine and other equipmentClean both indoor and outdoor seating areasResponsible for checking on food orders to ensure customer orders are filled in a timely mannerCheck temperature of freezers, refrigerators, and heating equipment to ensure proper functioningDescribe menu items to customers and recommend products that might appeal to themPost and update weekly drink and food specialsOrder, receive, or stock supplies and retail productsProvide customer service with product details such as coffee blend and preparation descriptionsReceive and process customer paymentsServe prepared foods using appropriate sanitation methodsMaintain prepared food quality by dating, wrapping, and using first-in, first out methodStock customer-service stations with paper products, condiments and other appropriate suppliesAvailability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidaysMay prepare food items from the café menuOther duties as assignedNECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGEKnowledge of specialty coffee ingredientsAdherence to safe food handling procedures and sanitation practicesKnowledge of food preparation and food service skillsGood customer service skills to manage multiple orders in a busy retail atmosphereAbility to provide efficient and friendly serviceRegister and cash handling experiencePoint of sales (POS) experienceTwo years' experience in food-service industryExperience working in fast-paced environmentUNUSUAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR RESTRICTIONSRequires long hours of standing and moving. Must be able to carry trays of food, dishes, and glassware weighing up to 25 pounds. Exposure to high temperatures, steam and equipment with very hot surfaces.
