This position is in the General Government (GGU) bargaining unit at a range 10.

What you will be doing:
Our new team member plays a crucial role in the Alaska Military Youth Academy (AMYA) by offering essential administrative support for daily operations, which encompasses tasks such as payroll processing, performance evaluations, travel arrangements, and custodial oversight. Collaborating closely with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), the incumbent assists key personnel including the AMYA Director, AMYA Manager, and Administrative staff, ensuring efficient staff support within the 24/7 operational framework of the Academy.

The mission of the National Guard Alaska Military Youth Academy ChalleNGe Program is to help intervene in and reclaim the lives of Alaska's at-risk youth and produce graduates with the values, skills, education, and self-discipline necessary to succeed as adults. The selected individual will manage all administrative functions and financial oversight of the Division.

The successful applicants must pass a federal background check in order to qualify for military base access, which is required with this position's work location on base. The background check will include fingerprinting. All job offers are conditional pending successful completion of the federal background check and issuance of a Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) card allowing base access. Also, you must be able to maintain the clearance throughout your employment. If using a private vehicle this will require a valid Alaska Driver License, proof of vehicle insurance, and a valid State of Alaska vehicle registration.

Special Note: In addition, in some cases employees must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC). Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or the equivalent.
AND
One year of experience that includes clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.

Substitution:
Education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience; 150 hours of vocation education equal one month of experience).

Special Note:
"High school diploma equivalent" means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D.; 2) completion of any basic adult education course equivalent to 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 course hours per week); 3) acceptance in full standing by an accredited college or university; 4) highest grade of school completed plus an amount of paid or volunteer experience that totals 12 years and includes basic clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.

Some positions in this class may require the incumbent to operate motor vehicles. Such positions require that the applicant possess a regular driver's license and be 18 years of age or older.

Some position in this class may require skill in typing. Recruitment and selection may include this requirement.
