The Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development, Division of Corporations, Business & Professional Licensing, is recruiting for two Administrative Assistant 1 positions located in Juneau!

What you will be doing:

The division is constantly growing with over a dozen new positions created this year. We are an agency that values internal growth with many staff promoting up the ranks of our agency. This position is intended to support licensing activities and is a great opportunity for the incumbent to learn about licensing and train for the next step in your career with us. This position provides technical and administrative support for the State of Alaska's Professional Licensing section. The incumbent will work on a wide variety of processes using many forms of technology, proprietary software, applications, and media designed specifically for the professional licensing unit.

The working conditions you can expect:

Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing is in downtown Juneau on the 9th floor of the Alaska State Office Building.

Workstations have new furniture and ergonomic lifting desktops. The daily work environment is fast paced with priorities continuously changing. Working in the office is required; however, teleworking may be offered to suitable candidates after the training/ probationary period has been successfully completed

Who we are looking for:

* Organization and Attention to Detail: Ability to remain organized with projects and multiple email inbox management, thorough when performing work and display of a high level of effort and commitment towards performing work.

* Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal communication abilities; ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing or verbally; ability to write with minimal typos or grammatical errors.

* Adaptability: Adjusts planned work based on priorities and needs as they arise; ability to provide critical thinking to address multiple demands and competing priorities.

* Self-Motivated and Managed: Sets well-defined and realistic personal goals; displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner; works with minimal supervision; is motivated to achieve; demonstrates responsible behavior.

* Customer Service: Anticipates and meets the needs of both internal and external customers.

Six months of advanced clerical experience. This experience includes work such as Office Assistant 2, Accounting Clerk, and similar classes with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.

OR

Six months of any combination of post-secondary education, vocational education, and/or advanced-level clerical experience. (Three semester or four quarter hours of post-secondary education are equal to one month of experience; 150 hours of vocational education are equal to one month of experience.)

Special Note:

Examples of advanced clerical experience include:

* Reviewing complex or questionable applications or documents and searching files and regulations to determine accuracy of information to clarify applicant status; using judgment in applying criteria, rules, regulations, and policies; providing information to organizational unit staff on administrative processes and procedures; tracking expenditures; and completing necessary administrative paperwork according to regulations.

* Composing letters and memoranda; completing and reviewing forms for completeness and accuracy using readily available information from multiple sources and established guidelines and procedures. Examples of such tasks include time sheets, appointment paperwork, or required drug testing notifications for employees in positions requiring possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).If selected, provide the following at the time of the interview:

* A list of three (3) professional references (must be former/current supervisor), one of which should be your most recent supervisor, including name, job title, employer, and current phone number(s) if not already attached to your application.

* A copy of your last three (3) performance evaluations, or two (2) letters of reference if evaluations are unavailable and not already attached to your application.
