As our utility technician, you will be performing general building maintenance to include cleaning and painting. Every day you will work in a mine on a remote island about 18 miles outside of Juneau, Alaska. You'll start every job with safety first by inspecting your workplace, your equipment, and then begin your daily tasks. We're on a remote island, you must know how to work independently.

The Greens Creek Mine, located on Admiralty Island 18 miles south of Juneau, is an underground polymetallic mine operating since 1989, employing approximately 500 people. The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Established in 1891, Hecla has a rich history as a distinguished and respected precious metals producer. Winner of numerous safety and environmental awards, Greens Creek is seeking new team members committed to professional growth and success.

Here's what you can expect in this role:

• Training first. Every hire is provided MSHA training in the first 4 days on the job. We also provide department-level training on not just what to do, but safety, as well.
• Perform duties as assigned, that include but are not limited to cleaning and painting.
• Working on a remote island and living in a mining camp environment away from home if you are not Juneau based. The schedule is working 12.5 hour days for 14 days followed by 14 days off.
• This is a temporary role, but a great opportunity to work with us and show potential to move into a full time position.
• You'll be doing workplace inspections assigned each morning. Then, we'll rely on you to prioritize your work before you get started.
• Safety is important. Every piece of equipment and each work area must be inspected before we start the day for your safety and the safety of your team.
