Job Description

The Administration Division of the Alaska Court System is accepting applications for a detail-oriented and self-motivated Security Support Clerk (salary range 12). Under supervision of the Director of Court Security, this position provides guidance, coordination and implementation on procedures and performs administrative activities to meet the mission of the Security and Emergency Preparedness Division.

Employees transferring from another State of Alaska agency may receive consideration for an advance step placement.

The Position

  • Program key cards to give security access to court employees and tenant agencies that occupy secured buildings throughout the court system;
  • Primary contact for Key Card System and duress system;
  • Grant approved contractor access to secured areas, and audit access levels regularly;
  • Understand, comply, and enforce policy under the direction of the Director of Court Security as it pertains to security access requirements;
  • Independently interpret and enforce policies, operating procedures, and documented protocols. The position requires making independent decisions, coordinating activities, and applying advanced technical knowledge;
  • Obtain permissions from Human Resources to release access reports;
  • Assist Director of Court Security with management and operations tasks in courthouses as needed, including but not limited to coordination for Local Emergency Response Plans, AEDs, screening equipment, security camera and duress functionality, and contract security services;
  • Assist the Director of Court Security to coordinate emergency response planning, be responsible for maintaining the emergency response plans, auditing of cameras, duress, and key card systems, setting annual meetings, emailing updates and answering general questions;
  • Work directly with the Office of Information Services for the purpose of coordinating / resolving phone and data line issues that affect the key card, duress, and camera systems;
  • Other duties as assigned.
The Work HoursFull-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of office clerical experience AND the ability to keyboard at least 40 words per minute.

OR

Completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter hours of coursework from an accredited college AND the ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
