Job Summary:
The Home Care Aide is a paraprofessional person who is specifically trained, competent, and performs assigned functions of personal care to the patient in their residence under the direction, instruction, and supervision of the registered nurse (RN). The Home Care Aide is primarily assigned to Hospice services but may be floated to provide Home Health services as needed.
What You Will Do:
* Performs personal care, bath, and hands-on care, as assigned.
* Reports changes in the patient's condition and needs to the RN.
* Performs household services essential to health care in the home, as assigned.
* Ambulates and exercises the patient, as assigned.
* Performs simple procedures as an extension of the therapy or nursing services, e.g., range of motion (ROM) exercises, as assigned.
* Assists with medications that are ordinarily self-administered, as assigned.
* Completes appropriate visit records in a timely manner, and as per department policy.
Minimum Qualifications for the Job:
* Education: High School Diploma or the equivalent required. Confirmation of completion is required within 90 days of hire.
* Experience: Experience in hospice, home health or personal medical care preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age.
* Certification(s): Current State of Alaska Certified Nurse Assistant license.
* Basic Life Support (BLS). Valid driver's license,
* current auto liability insurance and reliable transportation is required at time of hire.
Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.

* All new employees are required to produce negative drug screen prior to start of employment.
