Position Description:
The FHWA Construction Inspector (CI-I, CI-II, or CI-III) is responsible for performing construction inspection and construction management in support of Western Federal Lands Highway Division (WFLHD) administered bridge and highway projects. Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to: recommending approval/rejection of material and workmanship; monitoring labor and safety provisions; maintaining daily inspection logs/reports; developing records of defects, reviewing of Construction Contractor's daily submittals, and preparation of other documentation. In the performance of day-to-day job duties, this position reports directly to a proHNS or FHWA Project Engineer. Candidates should anticipate performing the majority of their duties in the field, using project vehicles as field offices, on rural project sites with at times limited phone and internet service. Typical project sites include bridges, culverts, roadways, or recreational facilities located within National Forests, National Parks, and at other Federal, State, or County owned facilities outside of urban areas.
