Are you a UA student looking to gain valuable employment experience? The UAF College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) will have a variety of Student Assistant positions in areas such as lab, field, and office support throughout the year. Multiple departments within CFOS will review applications from this pool on an as-needed basis.

To thrive in this role, an interest and general knowledge of laboratory practices, professional science research, or administrative/office support is beneficial. Strong organizational skills and a desire to learn and grow professionally will serve you well. The ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with a diverse team of professionals is essential. Competency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite, database system software, and spreadsheets is a plus.

CFOS is one of the most geographically diverse units at UAF. The College is headquartered in Fairbanks with additional locations in Anchorage and our coastal facilities include the Seward Marine Center, the NOAA-UAF Kasitsna Bay Laboratory, and the Juneau Lena Point Fisheries Facility.

Minimum Qualifications:

To be eligible for student employment the applicant should be enrolled as a UA student in a minimum of 6 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.0, or a newly enrolled student.

Depending upon the specific position the ability to perform moderately strenuous physical activity such as moving/lifting heavy boxes or fieldwork may be required.

Position Details:

Positions are located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks, Alaska, and Lena Point Fisheries Facility in Juneau, Alaska. This is a part-time, non-exempt student assistant position (additional hours may be available during the summer or semester breaks). Students will be placed on the student pay scale depending on experience.

This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year and applicants are reviewed as needed.
