We are looking for fun and energetic applicants with good communication and organizational skills who enjoys working with community members of all ages in an aquatic setting. Applicants must be able to understand exercise, swimming and aquatic safety concepts and be able to communicate them to students verbally as well as with physical demonstration. WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION
This position works out of the Dimond Park Aquatic Center. Hours for this position may vary depending on the type of activities the employee is leading but will primarily work weekday afternoon and evening during the school year, weekday mornings typically from 8am-12pm during the summer and Saturday mornings.
Typical Responsibilities
Under general supervision, this position provides leadership of Aquatic fitness or skill classes using a wide variety of methodologies. Activities may vary from fitness classes to swim instruction, the employee will lead programs including on-deck demonstrations and in water demonstrations for youth, adults and/or seniors.
Minimum Qualifications
Licensure:
CPR/First Aid Certification within 30 days of employment
Other:
Not less than 18 years of age at time of appointment
Note: Under Alaska Statute 12.62.160 (9) Appointments to this position are offered conditionally, pending the results of a criminal records report (Non-FBI). Human Resources evaluates the results to ensure the applicant does not have any convictions that result in a direct nexus to the primary duties involving supervising minors.
